skateboard maker game
Creating a video game…?

Well, I want to create a skateboarding or snowboarding game for the computer.
***I DON’T WANT IT TO BE 3D… OVERHEAD VIEW IS FINE***
Something that a certain button does a certain trick.
I have tried Game Maker 7 to do this, and that might work, but I am looking for something else.
PLEASE- NO PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE!
AND PLEASE- FREE?

OK. You want something better than game maker, but you don’t want a programming language and you want it to be free?

It is a free 2D game and animation program from MIT. It was designed for elementary school kids, but it’s a great tool for learning game development at any age. I think it’s a little better than GameMaker, and it’s also a bit simpler. It comes with an integrated graphics editor, which is kind of cool.

At some point, you’re going to need to learn a programming language. Ultimately, game development is programming, and graphical tools like gamemaker and Scratch write code for you. Eventually you’ll be ready to write the code yourself. By far my favorite language for beginners is Python.
